Ontario resources will be returning from British Columbia marking the end to another significant year of support to other provinces and territories. On September 3, 178 Ontario FireRangers, an Incident Management Team (18 people) and 12 overhead staff are scheduled to return to Ontario. Ontario staff and equipment have been in British Columbia since July 29, providing assistance with escalated fire activity.
Three new fires were reported in the province on September 1. This season, there have been a total of 890 fires affecting 14,987 hectares. There are currently 11 active fires and the forest fire hazard is low to moderate across much of the province.

Ontario FireRangers mark 125 years of service to Ontario
The Fire Danger Map in Ontario makes use of daily weather information and the Canadian Forest Fire Danger Rating System to establish the forest fire danger in each district inside Ontario’s fire regions. The forest fire danger is then shown in an easy to understand colour map.
The Map of Active Fires in Ontario provides up-to-the-minute information on forest fire locations and status. The map allows users to view active fire locations and status. Map information is linked to the ministry’s fire database, which is updated regularly as fire information becomes available.
East Fire Region
One new fire was reported on September 1. Algonquin Park 13 is under control at 0.1 hectares in size. There are no issues anticipated with this fire.

West Fire Region
There were no new fires in the West Fire Region by the evening of September 2.
One fire, Kenora District Fire Number 39 was declared out, and Kenora District Fire Number 40 continues to smoulder. It was a single tree struck by lightning and is located in the Lake of the Woods Conservation Reserve. It is being assessed as a monitored fire and is 0.1 hectares in size.

Wawa Fume Kill (April 1, 2010 - October 31, 2010)
SCHEDULE ‘A’
In the geographic Townships of Chabanel, Corbiere, Esquega, Musquash, and McMurray, in the Territorial District of Algoma and Province of Ontario, containing 5325 hectares, more or less, being composed of those parts of the said townships designated as Part 1 on a plan of the Restricted Fire Zone for the Wawa Fume Kill Area and filed in the Office of the Surveyor General at the Ministry of Natural Resources in Peterborough, on the 30th day of April, 1998.
